Buenos Aires - Argentina captain Lionel Messi has urged his compatriots to be realistic in their World Cup expectations, warning that other teams heading to Russian Federation are better.

West Ham United star Manuel Lanzini is also part Jorge Sampaoli's squad, as Argentina look to clinch their third World Cup, and his career could change forever if they do.

"People need to know that we are not going to Russian Federation as favourites but we have a group of very good players and we are ready to scrap", Messi said.

"I have a lot of faith in this group, though".

"We have players with talent and experience".
