In what is quite honestly the craziest, most hilarious story to grace the National Basketball Association in years, 76ers general manager Bryan Colangelo was caught by The Ringer to reportedly be using multiple "burner accounts" to talk trash to Sixers personnel, former general manager Sam Hinkie, Raptors president Salah Ujiri, among others.

The 76ers on Wednesday announced they would conduct an independent investigation into the accounts.

Colangelo reportedly used five anonymous Twitter accounts to monitor information and occasionally respond to news about the team.

He added, "This storyline is disturbing to me on many levels".

Real Madrid Go 'All Out' for Mauricio Pochettino; Jogi Low Reportedly Contacted
Low told a Germany press conference: "I can completely rule it out". "When Real Madrid call you, you have to listen to them". I'm not looking for another team.

Knowing this, Danny Ainge, the Celtics general manager and arguably the best executive in the league, hired a team of investigators to turn up dirt on Philadelphia with the hopes of deterring The King from calling the City of Brotherly Love home. He also called Embiid and told the center that tweets mentioned were not from him. According to The Ringer, one of the Twitter accounts it connected to Colangelo downplayed Hinkie's role in the franchise's turnaround.

According to The Ringer, it all goes back to where Colangelo's son, Mattia, went to high school: Upper Canada College in Toronto.

What Ben Detrick, who wrote the story for The Ringer, found doesn't look good for Colangelo or the Sixers.

The Ringer report said the site had received a tip-off in February that Colangelo was using the fake accounts. "That would just be insane".

Klay Thompson gives full update on Game 1 knee injury
The Golden State Warriors guard took a late shot with the game already decided, and Thompson did not appear to appreciate it. ESPN's Dave McMenamin reported the news about Love, who remained on the court while he was not checked into the game.

The anonymous source said they had used an open-source data analysis tool which had pinpointed striking similarities between all five accounts. Gotta believe him until proven otherwise.

Now, just three weeks before the draft and exactly one month before free agency, the organization is investigating possible improprieties by the man in charge of its roster. These are commonly known as "burner accounts", which are used to criticize others.

The story comes at the worst time for the Sixers.

NBA Twitter never sleeps, even during the few remaining off days before Part 4 of Cleveland Cavaliers vs. There is no precedent in the National Basketball Association for how to handle such a situation, but at the moment, Philadelphia likely does not look like the most player-friendly destination for top free agents.
