Texas man almost dies after bite from severed snake head

A Texas man is still in recovery a week-and-a-half after he was bitten by a rattlesnake he had already beheaded.

KIII-TV in Corpus Christi reported that the man and his wife were doing some work in the garden when they spotted a 4-foot-long rattler. "He had to rip it off".

He was transported to a hospital via HALO-Flight helicopter in time to save his life, and he's now in stable condition and recovering.

Sutcliffe said her husband needed 26 doses of antivenom, where a normal patient gets two to four doses.
