Porsche reveals series name for electric auto: Taycan

The 2020 Porsche Taycan (pronounced "tie-con") takes its name from the horse on the Porsche crest, according to the automaker, which itself was taken from the Stuttgart coat of arms. It translates as "lively young horse" and is a reference to the horse that's been rearing up on its hind legs on the Porsche badge since 1952.

As we previously reported, Porsche's first electric vehicle will feature two motors contributing to a system output of more than 600 horsepower.
