E3 2018: Ubisoft unveil Assassin's Creed Odyssey trailer and release date

We got to see the leaked Assassin's Creed Odyssey, which was through no fault of Ubisoft that the wind was taken out of its sails, as well as several other reveals. But what's most exciting is that you'll get the opportunity to choose who you can play. Players can choose which route they will take - do you want to play the hero? Both have the same backstory, so you don't have to worry about missing out on any key story elements. But what they did mention was their fascination with what we know of the first civilization and how it intertwines with mythology.

After the initial trailer, Ubisoft then showcased a full, almost 10-minute long gameplay walkthrough that showcases a ton of what the game will have to offer, including hefty dialogue, tons of weapon options, and a variety of other new additions that fans of the series will no doubt love.

Naturally, though, there's more to the game than just combat.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is set to launch on Xbox, PS4 and PC on October 5.

Considering this puts it out roughly a year after Assassin's Creed Origins, we can only assume that, at least for the time being, Ubisoft has chose to jump back into its annual release schedule for the series. In addition to a cinematic reveal trailer and some story details, Ubisoft also shared an extended look at gameplay on stage. During the game, you yield your grandfather's blade which gives you special abilities as you set out on a journey across ancient Greece.

The action begins as we see our pirate go after his target, first sinking to of the smaller ships guarding it and then going after the big ol' frigate with gold and treasure to fulfil your needs.
