Since Affirmed's win, many horses teased us by winning the first two legs of the Triple Crown - the Kentucky Derby and Preakness - but came up short each time in the Belmont Stakes.

The Belmont Stakes is known for a lot of things, from being the crowning glory of a grueling five-week race series to a crushing spoiler for runners and their connections attempting to earn racing immortality with a Triple Crown.

Justify has won all six races he has run this year - Seattle Slew was the only other undefeated horse to win the Triple Crown in 1977.

"Did you see him in the gate, he's standing so still", Smith said.

The race is over and history has been made.

But Zito was always hoping the stars would align correctly for Justify.

He concluded that the OH system didn't violate the NVRA's failure-to-vote language since the state also sent the written mailers. But Justice Samuel Alito, writing for the majority, said the policy did not violate the National Voter Registration Act.
