He was presented in a press conference on Wednesday, alongside RFEF president Luis Rubiales, and called for the focus to be on the tournament, ignoring everything that has happened following Julen Lopetegui's appointment as Real Madrid coach.

Spain's opening World Cup game comes on Friday when they take on Iberian neighbours Portugal in Sochi.

"We have to chose to fire the national coach", Spanish FA president Luis Rubiales said in a statement, according to The Guardian.

MI chose to fire Frieder immediately and promoted assistant coach Steve Fisher, who led the 3-seeded Wolverines to the national title.

We wish you the greatest of luck.

Rubiales had been riled by being told of Lopetegui's decision to take the Real job just five minutes before it was made public. If anybody wants to talk to one of our employees, they have to speak to us, too.

Speaking on Trump's possible visit for the World Cup, Peskov said "for this there is even no need for North America to win". Brazil's two-time World Cup victor Ronaldo will also feature in a ceremony billed as consisting of a new format.

"Sevilla have thought about the Spanish national team and there's a need to thank them".

"We've come to fight for the World Cup", said the 50-year-old ex-Spain and Real Madrid defender.

"He followed it up by saying: "[It's] a hard situation in these moments for our squad but now more than ever is when we have to support them without stopping.

"I have spoken with the players and what I can guarantee is that the players will do everything in their power, along with the new technical team to take the team as far as possible", said Rubiales.

Now removed from his position, reports on Wednesday morning suggested Spain's Under-21 coach Albert Celades would be an option to step in for the World Cup.

Rubiales insists there was no other option but to part ways with Lopetegui, who has never lost in 20 games in charge of La Roya.

Spain has sacked coach Julen Lopetegui on the eve of the World Cup. Julen has worked in a great way with the team, but we can not accept how he has acted in this case. But really this is a total mess and has cast a huge shadow over a tournament Spain were expected to win, or at least reach the critical stages.

"I feel very close to the players and to Julen", declared Rubiales.

"I've been at all the training sessions, in the day-to-day we've been present and I can't change anything in these two days".

The former Porto boss signed a three-year deal with Los Blancos, with the intention of taking over once this month's tournament was completed.

The Real Madrid job was seen as one of the most coveted jobs since the sudden departure of Zinedine Zidane after winning the Champions League.
