LaVar Ball Gives LA Lakers Permission To Trade Lonzo Ball

After LiAngelo's workout with the Lakers, he told the media he doesn't think that his dad would affect his draft stock, but it's pretty clear he has.

To that end, LaVar Ball was prompted about his son going undrafted and, in short, he gave a remarkably tame response, at least by his own lofty standards.

The news about the trade rumors swirling around Lonzo Ball reached his controversial father LaVar Ball. Maybe it was when he worked out for only the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors in the pre-draft process. If the Lakers didn't take LiAngelo, as they have now done, LaVar would eventually use Lonzo's free agency to find a team that would take all three of his sons.

According to a May report from USA Today, a team official didn't think the Lakers would sign LiAngelo in the draft or even to the G-League team.

He was a star in his only season with the UCLA Bruins, and Los Angeles selected him with the second overall pick in the 2017 National Basketball Association draft. In other words- the LaVar effect was real.
