"We see Mr. Wheeler as fitting a very typical pattern of behavior", said Chris Saeger, of the Western Values Project. Jim Inhofe if he decides not to run again in 2020.

The D.C. mom who confronted now-former EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt on Monday and asked him to resign said she was "jumping up and down" at today's news that he had stepped down. Like Pruitt, this veteran coal lobbyist has shown only disdain for the EPA's vital mission to protect Americans' health and our environment.

"There have been too many ethical lapses under Administrator Pruitt's watch, and this decision is in the best interests of the agency and our country".

Democrats and environmental groups decried Wheeler as an apologist for the coal industry.

Garland said, "When policy choices made by a Christian are unpopular, the attack from political adversaries will become personal in an attempt to discredit the one in the place of leadership".

"Pruitt abused power in a disgraceful way by using the job for perks and trying to enrich himself and his family", Hurlbut told GTM. He had also enlisted his staff to contact conservative groups and companies to find a lucrative job for his unemployed wife, including emails seeking a Chick-fil-A franchise from a senior executive at the fast-food chain.

Hurricane Beryl Is Tiny, Unpredictable
This graphic from the National Hurricane Center shows the projected path of Tropical Storm Beryl on Saturday, July 7, 2018. Earlier, the hurricane center had described the storm as "Tiny Beryl" because of "its very small size".

During congressional testimony in April, Pruitt was unapologetic, often blaming his staff for any agency missteps.

Some EPA staffers linked to Pruitt's tumultuous 17-month tenure feared for their jobs Friday, former top staffers under Pruitt said. Democrats accused him of endless misconduct. Along with other regulatory changes on their way or already complete, this would represent a near-surrender on the part of the federal government on the issue of climate change.

A former Oklahoma attorney general close to the oil and gas industry, Pruitt had filed more than a dozen lawsuits against the agency he was picked to lead.

Wheeler also worked as an energy sector lobbyist, perhaps most notably for Murray Energy Company, one of the nation's largest coal mining companies, according to The Washington Post.

Just after Trump's inauguration, Murray handed the president an "Action Plan" for "getting America's coal miners back to work", including the rollback of environmental rules and regulations created to curb emissions and tackle climate change.

The Washington Post Donald Trump, the trip "was partly arranged by a longtime friend and lobbyist, who accompanied Pruitt and his entourage at multiple stops and served as an informal liaison at both official and social events during the visit".

‘Racial profiling’: Man fired after calling police on black neighbor at pool
Edwards didn't have identification on her to prove she lived in the neighborhood, but had a key card for the exclusive pool. In the video, the man appears calm and unapologetic, as the woman asks him to explain why he wanted to see her ID.

'His policy actions as administrator don't cost him in this state.

Senator Joni Ernst didn't comment on Pruitt, but did weigh in on his replacement.

Pollard said that was the right strategy.

Oklahoma's former Attorney General, Scott Pruitt, is out at the EPA.

Scott Dworkin, co-founder of the Democratic Coalition: "Someone needs to make sure Scott Pruitt doesn't smuggle his $43,000 soundproof phone booth out of the EPA offices". "We've gotten rid of record breaking regulations and it's been really".

Mink told DCist after Pruitt's resignation was announced, "It's not like I can take all the credit for this".

Serena Williams battles into Wimbledon second round
Royalty at Wimbledon is not something new and Serena Williams hopes she can do enough to tempt Meghan Markle to Centre Court. But everything else was familiar for the Swiss star who cruised past world number 57 Lajovic in just 79 minutes.

In a letter sent to EPA employees obtained by BuzzFeed News, Wheeler said he looks forward to working toward the "collective goal of protecting public health and the environment on behalf of the American people".
