It will be the second Grand Slam final for Anderson, who reached the final of the US Open a year ago to Rafael Nadal.

Nadal and Djokovic have faced each other 51 times in total with the Serbian shading it with 26 wins but the Spaniard has won their last two meetings.

But the world No.1 trails 26-25 in their careers series after Djokovic dominated with an 11-from-12 spell during his glory days between 2013 and 2016.

Incidently, the Nadal versus Del Potro match lasted exactly the same length as Rafa's win against Roger Federer in the 2008 final.

A set apiece, both won 6-4, ensured the match went to a decider, but Nadal held his nerve in a marathon final set.

They have met on 51 previous occasions, but not at this stage of a Slam since the 2014 French Open semi-finals.

Kevin Anderson was just 3-8 against John Isner heading into the semifinals. He's one of the more complex players that I ever saw on our sport.

While Trump would have been a distraction in the royal box - especially if the wind were to cut through his hair spray - the 15,000 sunbathers on Centre Court instead have a double bill of Isner and Anderson at 1pm, followed by the main course, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

In 1983, representing his home country, Curren lost in the tournament semi-finals while two years later, in 1985, he made it all the way through to the final where he lost to teenager Boris Becker.

Djokovic's 2017 Wimbledon campaign ended in a quarterfinal retirement with an elbow injury which led to surgery and precipitated a worrying dip in form and confidence.

Rafael Nadal is only too familiar with the adrenaline rush that surges through his body after winning an electrifying five-set thriller in four hours and 48 minutes on Wimbledon's Centre Court.

"My results were not up to the standard that I had before", said Djokovic after beating Kei Nishikori in the quarterfinals. The final score line read 7-5, 6-7, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in favor of the 17-time Grand Slam champion.

It took 99 games and three tiebreakers over five sets that took well over 6 hours, but South African Kevin Anderson finally reached the final at Wimbledon on Friday.

Besides playing for the Wimbledon title, there was plenty of financial incentive for both players.

The victor will automatically be favored against whoever emerges from the Kevin Anderson and John Isner match.

Roger Federer seemed to be on a run at Wimbledon.

"I'm really not thinking about being an underdog or being a favourite", he said.

"I've been building the last couple of weeks on the level of tennis that I've played the last couple of month, the last couple of clay-court tournaments and Queen's".
