Speaking after talks with Theresa May last week, Trump said that the relationship between the United Kingdom and his country was "the highest level of special".

Khan's office also gave permission for London protesters to fly a 20-foot (6-meter) balloon depicting the US president as a screaming baby near Parliament on Friday.

Morgan's conversation with Trump was shown on Good Morning Britain during Monday morning's episode.

"It's a very odd thing to do, to come on a visit to another country, to meet that country's prime minister, and then announce that you would like to see as her successor a person who's just resigned from her government", he said.

Asked by Piers whether they had discussed Brexit, the President replied: "I did".

In an explosive interview with The Sun newspaper published Thursday - just as May was hosting Trump at a lavish black-tie dinner - Trump said the British leader's approach likely "killed" chances of a free-trade deal with the U.S. He said he had told May how to conduct Brexit negotiations, "but she didn't listen to me". "For Leavers, this deal simply does not deliver the proper break from the European Union that they wanted".

"He told me I should sue the EU", May told BBC television.

Two top pro-Brexit ministers, Boris Johnson and David Davis, quit in protest last week followed by a string of junior walkouts, including two more on Monday. The president backed away from the comments on Friday, saying of May's Brexit talks: "Whatever you're going to do is OK with us. Now, if they do whatever they do, they have to, I said make sure you have a carve out - you know I call it a carve out from this.you have to have a carve out - where no matter what happens they have the right to make a deal with the United States". "That's all that matters". I have been watching her over the last couple of days.

The president and queen then broke off to review the troops, walking slowly past a line of Coldstream Guards wearing traditional bearskin hats.

The meeting with the queen, a traditional sign of prestige and power, was lost to some, as USA cable networks began cutting away to cover the Russian indictments.

Amid this tumultuous backdrop, an early holiday could offer the breathing space May needs to rally support ahead of further Brexit negotiations. Trump linked his own election to the June 2016 referendum in which a slim majority of British voters supported leaving the EU.

Tens of thousands of people marched in London Friday to protest Trump's visit.

Britain has had a sharp lesson in dealing with U.S. President Donald Trump's appetite for disruption.

On Sunday (15 July), May attempted to face down would-be Eurosceptic rebels by warning that if they sink her premiership then they risk squandering the victory of an European Union exit that they have dreamed about for decades.
