Whatever the explanation, the lack of new faces compounds issues surrounding the United squad heading into the Premier League season.

The window for signing new players slammed shut on Thursday at 5pm with Jose Mourinho failing to bring in any additional players.

The Gunners did not make a move for Croatia defender Domagoj Vida, despite rumours to the contrary.

Jose Mourinho and Manchester United have been linked with several center backs over the course of the summer transfer window.

The 39-year-old, who made 312 appearances for the Red Devils, believes the negativity surrounding the club at present will hamper their progress towards Premier League success which will see them finish below their closest rivals.

Khamenei says Iran does not have anything to be concerned about
China, Iran's top oil customer, buys roughly 650,000 barrels a day of crude oil from Tehran , or 7 percent of China's total crude oil imports.

According to Sky Sports sources in Germany, Boateng was not interested in Manchester United because he does not think the Red Devils are good enough to win the Champions League this season.

Interest from Barcelona means that he may not be a Manchester United player for much longer, but his contributions to the club should not be underestimated.

Sources close to both United and Tottenham insist no formal bid has been lodged, although Spurs are braced for a deadline-day offer - which could include either Chris Smalling or Marcos Rojo to satisfy Mauricio Pochettino's desire to find a replacement before Alderweireld is allowed to leave.

Mourinho warned last weekend that a "difficult season" could lie ahead if they failed to strengthen the squad before the deadline.

It feels like just days ago the FIFA World Cup was wrapping up but, believe it or not, the English Premier League is about to get underway.

Tesla stock trading halted after Musk teases taking company private
A buyout at US$420 per share probably won't let Musk reap any benefit from the US$2.6b stock option grant he received this year. Musk said back in June the v9.0 would be the release to include the full self-driving features to make Teslas autonomous.
