Space.com recommends finding the darkest location possible to watch the shower, and lean back to watch the sky directly above you. The meteor shower will peak overnight into Monday, with 70 meteors visible each hour, according to the Royal Astronomical Society.

Most of the state should experience clear to mostly clear skies each night.

This year's meteor viewing arrived with a good forecast. Stargazers will be able to see the falling debris as "shooting stars".

The Perseids have presented a scintillating display for 2,000 years, according to NASA. The ice and dust, accumulating over a thousand years, burn up in our atmosphere to create the meteor shower.

It's the most popular meteor shower of the year.

According to the website, the plan has been rejected by North Korean negotiators multiple times over the past two months. Among the agreements was holding another inter-Korean summit in the fall in Pyongyang.

The Perseids are named after their radiant point of origin in the constellation Perseus.

Skies will be clear enough both of the nights this weekend to see them. They can reach between 3,000 and 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit during this shower. But when comets come close to the heat of the Sun, their ice melts and the remaining matter (the meteoroids) is left behind in the orbit of the comet.

Some meteors only have faint, quick streaks.

Some meteors could appear streaking across the sky for several seconds, leaving a trail of glowing smoke in their wake.

Meteor enthusiasts in Chicago have two factors working against them: the bright city lights and the moon, which will be shining in its crescent form this weekend when the meteor shower passes by. Make sure you have a dark area to view.
