Former New York City health commissioner and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director Tom Frieden has been arrested on charges he inappropriately touched a woman inside his Brooklyn home past year.

Frieden, 57, turned himself in to a Brooklyn police station, Muniz said, and he was arrested on misdemeanor charges of sexual abuse, forcible touching and harassment. Prior to that, he served as New York City Health Commissioner.

After leaving the CDC, he created the non-governmental organization Resolve to Save Lives, an effort to improve public health responses to infectious disease outbreaks and address chronic illnesses such as obesity and diabetes.
