Apple to unveil new iPhones in coming weeks

The site says it is certain the handsets will be called the iPhone XS, will sport advanced OLED screens and will feature a gold finish. Interestingly, Apple's event invite also features the same gold colour, thereby confirming that the iPhone will feature the new gold and black blend.

The event will be more than just iPhones though, as Apple is also said to be unveiling the fourth-generation Apple Watch and new iPad Pro models.

Apple is also expected to introduce the Apple Watch Series 4 which reportedly will feature a "larger display likely implemented through a reduction in bezel size".

Apple has for years released its new phone models in the second week of September, and often updates other product lines such as the Apple Watch at the event. The new Apple Watch models will include larger screens that cover almost the entire front of the watch. Analysts also expect Apple to release an iPhone with a edge-to-edge display similar to the iPhone X but using less-costly LCD screen technology.

Shortly after the invitations for the September 12 event were released, 9to5Mac shared the first look of the upcoming OLED iPhones and the new Apple Watch. The company has already given base-model iPads and some MacBook laptops an update this year.
