During the hearings, Cory Booker of New Jersey and Mazie Hirono of Hawaii released Bush-era correspondence from Kavanaugh stamped as "committee classified", a low-level designation meaning Congress members and staff may view the documents but they may not be released to the public. With his questioning over, he seemed on his way to becoming the court's 114th justice.

Judge Kavanaugh proposed deleting that line, writing: "I am not sure that all legal scholars refer to Roe as the settled law of the land at the Supreme Court level since Court can always overrule its precedent, and three current Justices on the Court would do so".

Kavanaugh referred to some birth control as "abortion-inducing drugs" during his testimony on Thursday, sparking controversy among abortion-rights activists.

Democratic witnesses also included a student who survived the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, and Rochelle Garza, the legal guardian for a pregnant immigrant teenager whose quest for an abortion Kavanaugh would have delayed a year ago.

Kavanaugh maintained that he views Roe v. Wade, which legalized a woman's right to obtain an abortion, as an "important precedent" during his recent Senate hearing, including when he was asked directly about the 2003 email. "And make no mistake about it".

What Serena whispered to Osaka after she burst into tears
Tennis great Billy Jean King wrote on Twitter: "When a woman is emotional, she's "hysterical" and she's penalized for it". Open trophy after beating Serena Williams of the us in the women's final on day thirteen of the 2018 U.S.

During the third day of his confirmation hearings, Kavanaugh was asked by Sen. They talked about his intelligence and open-mindedness, calling him "thoughtful", "wonderfully warm" and a "fair-minded and independent jurist". He's smart. Be careful what you wish for.

If you got the sense from watching Kavanaugh this week that he was a friend to, and valued women, that's certainly the impression he was shooting for.

The committee will recommend to the full Senate whether to confirm Kavanaugh to the high court.

Fred Guttenberg, whose 14-year-old daughter, Jaime, was killed in the February 14 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, tried to shake hands with Kavanaugh during a break in Tuesday's hearing.

Kavanaugh finished two marathon days in the witness chair Thursday. He called the Supreme Court a "team of nine committed to deciding cases according to the Constitution and laws of the United States". "What I found that was striking is that in the 12 years you've been on the D.C. Circuit, of all the matters that you and Chief Judge Garland have voted on together, that you voted together 93 percent of the time", Sen.

Moonves On His Way Out At CBS After More Harassment, Assault Allegations
Viacom controls several major cable networks, including Comedy Central, MTV and BET, and movie studio Paramount. Moonves will receive the $120 million as severance if the investigation doesn't substantiate the allegations.

John Tarpley, the lead evaluator in the review, says it was clear based on interviews with peers that Kavanaugh learned integrity at an early age.

The tone in the email from 2003 contrasted with his responses to questions on Wednesday when he stressed how hard it is to overturn precedents like Roe. In the emails, sent as he served in the Bush White House in the months immediately after the 9/11 terror attacks, Kavanaugh said he supported security measures, including at airports, that were "race-neutral", but noted the administration would have to "grapple now" with how to approach the same kind of law enforcement in the period before such a system could be implemented.

Under committee rules, any one member can request a nomination be held over for a week the first time it appears on the agenda like Kavanaugh's will be on Thursday. The document was partially redacted. Listening to Dean's advice on a Supreme Court nominee is like listening to the Devil tell you how to act in church.

Kavanaugh did answer a lot of questions in a number of key areas, including abortion, gun rights, and special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation. Throughout his testimony, Kavanaugh has repeatedly insisted he fully embraces the importance of judicial independence.

Much of the debate among senators focused more on the disclosure of documents than on Kavanaugh's record. Because his career has largely been spent in public service, Kavanaugh has an unusually voluminous paper trail. Democrats objected to the White House withholding more than 100,000 documents about Kavanaugh, and Republicans accused Democrats of trying to drag out the process to score political points with liberal groups.

Cooper also urged people to learn what evacuation routes to take, and put fuel in their vehicles in case they're ordered to leave. Forecasters cautioned, though, Florence could impact anywhere from northern Florida to north of the Washington, D.C., area.
