Cristina King Miranda went to the same high school as Ford, who alleges that Kavanaugh drunkenly groped her and attempted to remove her clothes at a party in the 1980s when she was 15.

"Because Dr Ford's allegations are in the public arena, there is no longer a need for a confidential FBI investigation", he said.

One key witness in the allegation appeared reluctant to discuss the incident or has no memory of it.

Sen. Susan Collins of ME yesterday joined other Republicans in urging Christine Blasey Ford, who accused Kavanaugh of groping and attempting to forcibly undress her at a high school party in the 1980s, to appear along with Kavanaugh at a scheduled hearing Monday.

Ford has said Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her in 1982 when both were high school students in Maryland, an allegation Kavanaugh has called "completely false".

On Twitter, Grassley said committee "investigators are following up on the leads from Dr. Ford's allegations" and that "no other OUTSIDE investigation is necessary". Ford, initially reluctant to go public, did so after reporters got wind of it and started asking questions.

Her lawyer, Lisa Banks, told CNN her client has been "deflecting death threats and harassment".

North Korea Still Keeping Nuclear Weapons, Says UN Envoy
Haley said an amended version was submitted last week that removed evidence of Russian actors violating sanctions. In August, Trump requested Secretary of State Mike Pompeo cancel a diplomatic visit to Pyongyang over the issue.

He said Ford's "information is very important" and that he will work to accommodate Ford's testimony "in any format she is comfortable" with. "Her strong preference continues to be for the Senate Judiciary Committee to allow for a full investigation prior to her testimony".

Panel Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, has told Ford's attorneys that the panel was giving the California psychology professor until 10 a.m. Friday to submit a biography and a prepared statement "if she intends to testify".

In a separate letter to Democrats, Grassley wrote that committee aides were "even willing to fly to California, or anywhere else, to meet her". They say she can testify in a private session if she wishes.

The Senate is narrowly controlled by Republicans, who have embraced the idea of a quick vote on Kavanaugh's nomination if Ford does not to testify.

The development further roiled a confirmation process that once seemed smooth for Kavanaugh, whose confirmation to the lifetime post could consolidate the conservative grip on the top US court.

"The rush to a hearing is unnecessary, and contrary to the Committee discovering the truth", Ms Banks wrote.

"[An FBI investigation] should be the first step in addressing the allegations", the lawyers wrote in a letter to the Judiciary Committee.

Maroon 5 To Play Super Bowl Halftime 2019
Maroon 5 continues the NFL's recent shift away from the classic rock acts that headlined numerous Super Bowls of the early aughts. Looking over their career, Maroon 5 could actually be a decent Halftime show if they make sure to invite all their friends.

Gillibrand says it's "bullying" for Republicans to say Ford must show up Monday or not at all.

Fellow Republican Susan Collins of ME said on Wednesday that she hopes Prof Ford "will reconsider and testify" on Monday.

"We just don't know what happened 36 years ago and there are gaps in her memory".

What are Republicans hiding about Kavanaugh?

It remained unclear, though, whether Ms Ford would attend or if the hearing would occur without her.

According to the New York Times, evangelical leaders are putting pressure on the GOP leadership, warning that religious conservatives may stay home and not vote in the midterm elections unless Senate Republicans do more to defend Kavanaugh and get him seated.

Kavanaugh, Ford to testify at US Senate hearing on Monday
If Collins votes yes on Kavanaugh, so will all the other Republicans , including Jeff Flake, which is all Kavanaugh needs. Some could even call a presidential order for the FBI to investigate a state-law matter to be an abuse of power.
