Alexander Povetkin was stopped in the seventh by a patient Joshua, who waited and waited for his chance to hurt the game Russian.

Povetkin was Olympic super-heavyweight gold medalist in 2004, eight years before Joshua was and four years before Joshua had stepped into a boxing ring, and that experience caused a lot of trouble for Joshua.

Heavyweight world titleholder Deontay Wilder and former world champion Tyson Fury finalized their deal Friday night, and Premier Boxing Champions announced the fight would take place December 1.

A fierce 7th round Anthony Joshua TKO ended the challenge of Alexander Povetkin in tonight's heavyweight bout in Wembley Stadium.

This will be Joshua's first fight since March 31 when he defeated Joseph Parker for the WBO heavyweight title by unanimous decision in his first career fight to go the distance.

Welch, speaking in the Daily Telegraph, said: "I believe that Anthony Joshua will be the first billionaire fighter. Every jab takes a breath out of you and I slowed him down".

"It's a very comfortable and good weight for me, I feel great", Povetkin said.

Klitschko is the only man to have inflicted a blemish on Povetkin's 35-fight record, with a points win back in 2013.

"It's very pleasant for me to see fans of mine here in England rooting for me".

"Joshua is not an Instagram world champion, he is a real world champion".

Joshua, 28, had a significant height and reach advantage of several inches over Povetkin.

After an early chess match in which Joshua suffered a bloodied nose before cutting his rival, the Briton grew in confidence and a savage right hand followed by a left hook began an onslaught which would prove telling.

But Povetkin could do nothing to repel the punches that rained down on him in the deciding seventh round.

When it was put to Joshua that losing would not end his career, he replied: "One hundred percent and I know that it could happen because I know how tough this sport is".
