UEFA to review Cristiano Ronaldo’s red card on September 27

Ronaldo got tangled with Valencia's Murillo, and after the player fell Cristiano in frustration appeared to tug at the defender's hair in the first half of Juventus' 2-0 win on Wednesday.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri believes Cristiano Ronaldo would have avoided a red card against Valencia if VAR was in use in the Champions League, Skysports reports.

He will find out next week whether his one-match ban is extended.

Ronaldo was livid when he missed out on the UEFA Player of the Year award to Luka Modric.

Seeing this, the assistant referee warned the referee, who showed Ronaldo the red.

The Portuguese was sent off for putting his hand on Valencia defender Jeison Murillo's head and this had let to a complete fiasco in the European circuit.

Former United midfielder Darren Fletcher said: "It was a soft sending-off for Ronaldo, but the letter of the law says you probably can not do that, so I think the one-match ban will probably stick".
