A committee vote to confirm Kavanaugh is tentativelyscheduled for Friday.

Julie Swetnick, represented by celebrity lawyer Michael Avenatti, came forward on Wednesday with a signed declaration claiming she witnessed a teenage Kavanaugh and his friends spike the drinks of girls at parties to facilitate their "gang rape" by a "train" of men. "This is what has terrified me the most", she said.

Grassley has cut Mitchell off to tell her it's the Democrats' turn for questioning, which isn't exactly helping the optics goal of bringing in Mitchell in the first place - to avoid awkward moments from the male Republicans. Judge was a high school classmate of Kavanaugh.

The ad reads in part: "As men who are allies in the fight to end violence and harassment against women and girls, we write to express our strong support of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford for her willingness to speak out publicly and testify before the Senate about the sexual assault that she says was perpetrated against her by Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh".

He said he feels that Republicans on the committee were "ambushed" by Democrats, who were "lying in wait" to politicize the issue and turn the hearing into a spectacle.

"He is asking for a lifetime appointment to the nation's highest court where he will have the opportunity to rule on matters that will impact Americans for decades", the 10 Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee said in a letter to the president.

Earlier in her hearing, Ford accused Judge of aiding and participating in the assault. I denied the allegation immediately, unequivocally, and categorically.
