Barca boss Ernesto Valverde reacted to his side's shock 2-1 midweek defeat at Leganes by resting both Sergio Busquets and star man Messi, with one eye on their upcoming match with Tottenham.

"None of the Barcelona players came after the game to speak to us, and I think that is an ugly gesture".

"I know it was a risky decision but if it had gone well no-one would have even asked me about it".

"When I make the decision, I think about what's best for my team and for my club", he said to reporters after the match.
