Meghan and Harry 'very pleased' to be expecting first child

Worldwide visitors to Buckingham Palace to see the popular Changing of the Guard ceremony have reacted with joy to the news that Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, are expecting their first child.

Shortly after the pair stepped off the plane on Monday, October 15, Kensington Palace announced that Queen Elizabeth II's 34-year-old grandson and the 37-year-old actress are "expecting a baby in the spring of 2019", triggering a chorus of coos and rampant tabloid speculation about baby names.

The news comes just hours after Harry and Meghan landed in Sydney at the beginning of their 16-day tour of Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.

Hundreds of well-wishers gathered with umbrellas outside the airport and Admiralty House in the hope of catching a glimpse of Harry and Meghan.

Harry, who served with the British Army for a decade, including two tours of duty in Afghanistan, set up the Invictus Games after visiting the US Warrior Games in 2013.

Harry and Meghan married in May 2018 in a grand ceremony at Windsor Castle outside London.

Emerson Yee held up a poster saying, "I gave up ideal school attendance to see you".

When asked about children, Harry said they planned to take things "one step at a time, and hopefully we'll start a family in the near future".

Meghan had ended her acting career and moved to Britain to be a full-time royal.

Even though working royal family members can't participate in social media, Kensington Palace does have its own social media accounts to share official announcements and photos.

Interestingly, it's hard to say if Baby Sussex baby will receive a royal title.
