When former NASA engineer Mark Rober fell victim to thieves, he contacted police, but they said there wasn't much they could do. When he brought the video to the police, they said it wasn't worth their time to investigate it, so he made a decision to take matters into his own hands.

A Global Positioning System signal implanted in the package alerts the four phones to start recording as soon as the package is moved; the phones use a wide-angle filming mode to capture the reaction of the thieves no matter which direction they open the package from.

The video already has over 7 million views, as of Tuesday morning.

Mr Rober also fitted an accelerometer into the device to detect the motion of people handling the package.

Well, Rober took this to heart: after all, as a former NASA engineer who had created device that roam on another planet, he did seem like the one person who could stage a revenge. The glitter would burst out when opened; the latter would spray five times, every 30 seconds.

It's a fake package that covers the thieves in glitter and a horrific odor.

The list also includes former White House staffer Omarosa Manigault Newman and ex-national security adviser Michael Flynn. In an interview Thursday with Fox News , he said: "I never directed him to do anything wrong".

The package also has a built-in Global Positioning System locator and accelerometer, which prompt the phones to start recording if the box is moved.

Rober decided he would create a booby trap inspired by his "childhood hero and inspiration" Kevin McAllister, the young and resourceful protagonist (played by Macaulay Culkin) in the "Home Alone" films of the 1990s.

As the thief opens the package, wires are tripped that cause the motor inside to start spinning, covering those nearby in glitter.

Before the phones could be discovered, a touch of the package activated a mechanism that dispatched the fart spray.

He said in the video, "The moral of the story is, just don't take other peoples' stuff".
