Four days after retired Air Force Senior Airman Brian Kolfage, who lost both of his legs and part of his right arm in a 2004 blast in Iraq, launched the GoFundMe page to raise money for the wall, the campaign has taken in almost $12 million.

The man behind a GoFundMe page which raised $11 million in private money to build President Trump's proposed border wall also ran conspiracy pages which got kicked off of Facebook.

More than 195,000 people have donated to the viral GoFundMe campaign that is raising money to fund the wall between the U.S. -Mexico border.

A GoFundMe fundraiser was created to raise money for "ladders to get over Trump's wall".

"Even if we get half, that's half the wall".

Kolfage cited the case of businessman David Rubenstein, a billionaire history buff who donated $7.5 million to the US government in order to fix quake damage to the Washington Monument in 2012.

As the GoFundTheWall campaign surpasses $12 million in donations, observers wonder how much of the money will go to GoFundMe - and if the money will actually be used to build the wall.

An online fundraiser started by an Air Force veteran to pay for construction of President Donald Trump's U.S. -Mexico border wall was up to millions of dollars Thursday, bringing further attention to an issue that could lead to a government shutdown.

The page was launched as Trump and Congress were working to pass a short-term government spending bill and avoid a shutdown.

In an email to the Post, Kolfage said his fundraising project was about "giving people the power". It had raised almost $11 million as of Friday morning.

During the 2016 election campaign, Mr Trump claimed Mexico would pay for the wall, but is now asking the US Congress for $5bn towards its construction.

Presenting his credentials that he has lost 3 limbs while being in a warzone, Kolfage enlists the support of countrymen for building up the wall, claiming that he had contacts with the Trump administration and had been regularly showing up on TV channels.

The House passed a government funding bill Thursday that included Trump's $5 billion request for border wall funding.

To continue to push for a border wall in the face of that, then - "leads me to believe that this big push for the wall is just resentment toward brown people", Clymer told McClatchy. "I know tech better than anyone, & technology. on a Border is only effective in conjunction with a Wall".

"They're about to have a country where no Republican will ever be elected president again", Coulter said during an interview with the Daily Caller Wednesday. "We can work on a way where we can guarantee with a contract where [the funding] can only go to the wall".

Clymer, a military veteran, said the idea started as a satire to the president's efforts to raise money for the wall. Thousands of migrants have been travelling to the border for several months in a bid to seek asylum in the U.S.
