Victory for Serena Williams, but United States fall to Greece in Hopman Cup

Serena Williams beat Maria Sakkari 7-6 (3), 6-2 in their Hopman Cup singles encounter - but the U.S. lost the tie to Greece following the mixed doubles decider.

Federer will take on American Frances Tiafoe and Greek rising star Stefanos Tsitsipas during his other singles ties at the mixed-teams event.

'It'll be great. I've been looking forward to it since I saw it.

"It was my first match back".

"I was making a lot of mistakes but its my first match back, so it will only get better. It was a great match for me".

The 20-time Grand Slam singles champion broke immediately in the second set and looked sharp as he cruised to an easy first-up victory in the tournament.
