Lifetime's newly released six-part documentary Surviving R. Kelly further explores these allegations and, according to TMZ, prompted the district attorney's office investigation. On Saturday (January 5), he shared a clip contextualizing those words in a bigger discussion. I whole heartedly apologise for not coming to this realization sooner. I (CANNOT) separate the music from the monster! In the docuseries, McGee claims she met Kelly when she was 35, and that he treated her as if she was his personal sex slave.

Well, I have spoken to more than a dozen courageous women who have put their names and faces to the accusations they have made in BuzzFeed in July 2017, the big story that has revitalized interest in this sad tale. R. Kelly's social media accounts have been full of photos and comments from other people in the industry, including Tamar Braxton and Da Brat.

"The sad truth is survivors still face push-back from naysayers who question their stories or dismiss the crisis of sexual assault- especially against black women and girls".

"From listening to their stories, and listening to the methods survivors said he used on them, it's clear many felt scared to speak up. It's a awful burden to have to endure". We asked her why she thinks so many women remained silent and how this docuseries will change the perception of the unprotected Black woman. If he's not going to jail, then I hope his friends, family or the people who claim to love him can at least try to get him into some type of treatment program where his multiple problems can be sorted out before more women suffer in the future.
