People Killed in US California as Aircraft Crashes Into House

Two people were killed and two others injured when a small plane crashed into a home on Sunday outside of Los Angeles, authorities said.

Fire officials say two people were treated in hospital for burns.

One firefighter suffered an ankle injury, Rossman said.

Video showed plane parts scattered on the ground and on rooftops and residents of the neighbourhood trying to fight the blaze caused by the crash.

Eliott Simpson, an aviation accident investigator, says debris is scattered over four blocks and a nearby elementary school will be closed Monday as they investigate.

It happened on Sunday afternoon in a residential area of Yorba Linda, which is southwest of Los Angeles. "It shook the house".

Those witnesses did not report an explosion while the twin-engine propeller-driven Cessna 414A was in the air, she said.

Tony Tomminelli recalled hearing a loud noise before a plane crashed into his neighbor's home as they hosted a Super Bowl party and left five dead in California.

"The main cabin of the airplane, along with one of the engines, came to rest at the bottom of a ravine in the backyard of somebody's house", Simpson said, reports CNN.

He said: "I was about two miles away and likely in the flight path of the plane". "The plane didn't hit and scatter, it blew up and hit the house".

Video posted on Twitter showed panicked residents running to a suburban home that was engulfed in flames. "And then all of a sudden boom".

The debris field spanned about four blocks, he said.

A twin-engine Cessna 414A crashed in Yorba Linda shortly after taking off from the nearby Fullerton Municipal Airport.

The number of people on board the plane is unknown at this time.
