Host Alicia Keys kicked off the event with a moment celebrating female empowerment, during which she invited the former first lady onto the stage along with Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez and Jada Pinkett-Smith.

The song "Shallow" won the best original song award at the Golden Globes and is nominated at the Academy Awards.

Cardi B became the first solo woman to win best rap album, although Lauryn Hill was the lead singer of the Fugees, which won the same award at the 1997 Grammys. Plus, her wavy almost-white blonde hair and simple makeup look was the cherry on top of a ideal Grammys sundae. And we got to take care of each other.

It's not clear what the two told one another, but pictures of the encounter show Cardi B looking in equal parts delighted and in disbelief as she poses with her idol. "I promise you, you already won".
