Kyler Murray Is Now Fully Committed To Playing NFL Football

He helped Oklahoma win a Big 12 title and reach the College Football Playoff while becoming the second consecutive Sooner to win the Heisman Trophy. Murray is preparing for the National Football League combine, which begins February 26, rather than spring training (Oakland's position players report Friday).

Relating to the Patriots, they will always be interested in quarterbacks as long as Tom Brady is still on the roster since they need to find an eventual replacement. But that narrative has changed (albeit pre-Scouting combine) and most think Murray will indeed be a first-round pick. He is now training for the NFL Draft in April and is set to participate in the league's upcoming scouting combine. Even Monday morning, A's manager Bob Melvin was cautiously optimistic Murray would report to the team's spring training, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

Quarterback Kyler Murray #1 of the Oklahoma Sooners looks to throw against the UCLA Bruins at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium on September 8, 2018 in Norman, Oklahoma.

"He's really fun to watch on a football field, and he's going to be fun to watch on a baseball field". The league isn't at fault for Murray following his passion, and it's too simplistic to say that MLB couldn't pay him enough-his signing bonus with the A's was just under $5 million-to play baseball. Murray dazzled on the gridiron for the Sooners, throwing for 3,674 yards and 37 touchdowns and while rushing for 853 yards and 11 scores. But at least one team that could really use a quarterback appears poised to take a hard pass on the Heisman trophy victor.

The result was all that mattered, but getting it with Joey Carbery running the show for nearly an hour was an added bonus. The last time Scotland claimed the Six Nations title Bill Clinton was US President and the millennium bug was a threat.

If football does not pan out, the A's are likely to welcome Murray back, said Susan Slusser of The San Francisco Chronicle.

The Giants have the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, and are considered one of the few teams with a top pick that needs a quarterback.
