It's unclear if Apple's movie and TV streaming service will also launch in Canada in April.

Apple's much talked about news subscription service could be going public soon.

Apple CEO Tim Cook recently teased that "new services" from Apple are coming in 2019 during an interview with CNBC's Jim Cramer.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple will price its "Netflix for news" all-you-can-read subscription service at around $10 per month, and will demand a hefty 50 per cent cut of the revenue; that's considerably higher than the 30 per cent cut Apple typically takes during the first year of a subscription, which has long faced objection from the likes of Spotify.

However, Apple has been holding events in March for years, so it's not entirely surprising news.

Once publishers give 50 percent of their revenue to Apple, the other 50 percent is added to one large pot and then split amongst publishers depending on how often readers engage with their content. YouTube attempted to implement a similar plan with their YouTube Red subscription service; according to those that participated in the plan it did not work out well.

"On services, you will see us announce new services this year", Cook said. The New York Times and Washington Post are two of the big names objecting to Apple's terms. But apparently, this will not be the case, and instead of a hardware piece, the company will be introducing a new service.

Citing an "unconfirmed but seemingly reliable source", he claims that "brand new AirPods + new color (s) [are] likely to be unveiled this Fall".

Apple declined to comment on or confirm a March 25 event. Starz, Showtime and Viacom are expected to offer subscription streaming services on Apple's platform, but these are just some of the channels that customers will be able to watch on the upcoming service.
